Sugar candies are well known since the Portuguese Discoveries in the XVIth century.

Damião de Goes (1502-1570) was astonished because in Lisbon there were lots and lots of places which sold sugar, sugar candies and cakes.

In the XXIst century this fashion is still alive.

As you can see through this photos of the Portuguese Discoveries Monuments made with 600kg of sugar.

All the scale monuments were made with sugar, water, jelly, starch and food colourings and have a square meter.

We can surely say that this is a homey to sweet Lisbon
